Terms
The terms, in plain words.
Effective October 24, 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and You Know Her LLC. They apply whenever you use youknowher.com: as a member, as a champion who vouches for someone, as an employer, or just visiting. Please read them along with our privacy page, which explains what we keep and who sees it.
The short version
- Be honest, be kind, and use You Know Her for what it’s for.
- Her profile is hers. She decides which notes show and who can find her.
- Champions write in their own words, about what they’ve seen for themselves.
- Employers keep three promises: acknowledge within 7 days, update at least every 14, and show the pay range.
- Members never pay. Not now, not later.
- We connect people. We don’t hire anyone, and we can’t promise a job.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what count.
Who we are
You Know Her is run by You Know Her LLC, a limited liability company registered in Oregon, USA (“You Know Her,” “we,” “us”). We help women returning to paid work get found through the people who know their work. You can reach us any time at hello@youknowher.com, or by mail at You Know Her LLC, 5441 S Macadam Ave, Ste R, Portland, OR 97239, USA.
Who can use You Know Her
- You must be at least 18.
- Joining is free. Any woman returning to work can make a member account herself, with no invite or approval. Employers join after we approve their company.
- Use your real name and accurate information. Don’t pretend to be someone else, or open an account for someone without their say-so.
- One member profile per person. You may also belong to an employer account if your company is approved, and switch between the two.
- Keep your sign-in safe. We sign you in with codes sent to your email, or with Google or Apple if you connect them. Keep those accounts secure, and tell us right away if you think someone else got in.
When you make a member account (or accept a friend’s invite), open an employer account, send a request, or send a note as a champion, you agree to these terms.
Members
- Your profile is yours. Keep it truthful. Describe your own work, projects, jobs and education, and only upload files you have the right to share.
- You control who sees it. Employers can’t find your profile until you’ve approved notes from three champions. You need three approved notes to apply to partner jobs, too; public job listings, where you apply on the company’s own site, never need them. You can choose “Only employers I apply to” at any time, and an employer you apply to can always see your profile.
- You approve every note. A champion’s note shows only after you approve it, and you can hide it again whenever you like. Please don’t edit, copy or present a note as anything other than what the champion wrote.
- Invite people you know. Invite friends, or send them jobs, only if you know them and believe they would want to hear from you. We send these emails with your name and note.
- Free for you, always. Membership is free, and we will never charge members. That promise isn’t something a future update to these terms will change.
Champions
A champion is someone who vouches for a member. You don’t need an account. When you send a note, you agree to these terms for that note.
- Your words, your experience. Write only what you honestly know from working or spending time with her. If you start from the “Help me write it” draft, make it your own: what you send is your note.
- Be who you say you are. Use your real name and an email you can read. Any title, workplace or LinkedIn link you add should be yours and accurate.
- She decides. She can approve your note, keep it private, or hide it later. We may also remove a note that breaks these terms.
- Your contact details stay private. Your email is never shown on her profile. If you offer to be a reference, the phone number, email and short note you give for that go to an employer only if she chooses to share them.
- Changed your mind? Email us and we’ll help you change or remove your note.
Employers
Getting access
A person at You Know Her reviews every employer request, and we approve companies by hand. We may decline a request, or ask for more information, at our discretion. If you open an account for your company, you confirm that you’re allowed to agree to these terms on its behalf, and your company is responsible for how you and your teammates use You Know Her.
The three commitments
By opening an employer account, your company agrees to:
- Acknowledge every application within 7 days.
- Keep candidates updated at least every 14 days, until there’s a decision.
- Show the pay range on every job you publish, in good faith, for the role as you really expect to fill it.
When a deadline slips, we send a reminder and note it on your company’s response record, which candidates can see. If it keeps happening, we’ll talk with you about it. We may pause or remove access for a company that repeatedly leaves candidates waiting.
Hiring fairly and lawfully
- Post only real, current jobs at your company, described accurately. Never charge candidates a fee.
- Follow the employment laws that apply to you, including laws against discrimination, laws on pay transparency, and providing reasonable accommodations. You make your own hiring decisions and are responsible for them.
- Treat candidates with respect. No harassment, pressure, or asking for things a job doesn’t need, like bank details or government ID numbers before an offer.
Candidates’ information
- Use what you see here only to recruit for real roles at your company. Keep it confidential, and share it only with people at your company who are involved in hiring for that role.
- Don’t scrape, bulk-download, copy or export profiles, notes or contact details, and don’t sell, rent or share them with anyone else. You may keep records about candidates who applied to you or agreed to talk with you, as part of your normal hiring process and as the law requires.
- Contact members through You Know Her: by asking to meet her or replying to her application. Contact her outside You Know Her only after she shares her contact details or agrees to it.
- Use champions’ reference details only for a reference check about that candidate, and only after she has shared them with you.
Pricing
Employer access is free today. We may introduce paid plans or paid features for employers later. If we do, we’ll email your account at least 30 days before any charge applies and explain what changes. Nothing will be charged unless your company agrees to pay, and you can close your account before then. This never applies to members: membership is always free.
Misuse
We may suspend or remove an employer account, a teammate, or a job if we believe these terms have been broken, a candidate has been treated unfairly or unlawfully, or members need protecting.
Rules for everyone
Members, champions, employers and visitors all agree not to:
- Post anything false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexual or unlawful.
- Pretend to be someone else, or vouch for yourself under another name or with a second email.
- Share someone else’s private information without their permission.
- Use the site to send spam, advertising, scams or anything that isn’t about real work.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site, or use bots or automated tools to use it, except as we allow.
- Try to get around our access rules, such as the three-note rule, a private profile or an employer approval, or break into accounts, systems or data that aren’t yours.
- Upload viruses or harmful code, or overload, disrupt or reverse engineer the site.
- Resell or share access to You Know Her, or build a competing service from what you find here.
If you see something that breaks these rules, please tell us at hello@youknowher.com. A person reads every report.
Your content and our permission to show it
You own what you post: your profile, files, notes, job posts and messages. To run You Know Her, you give us permission to store, copy, format and show your content to the people you’ve chosen, and to the people these terms describe. We use it only to run, protect and improve You Know Her, never for advertising, and we never sell it.
That permission ends when you delete your content or your account, with a few exceptions: copies in backups for a short time, anything we must keep by law, and things you already sent to someone, such as an application an employer has received or a message in a conversation.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. The You Know Her name, logo, site design and our own writing belong to us. Please don’t use them without asking.
Feedback
About You Know Her. If you send us ideas or suggestions about the site, we may use them freely to make it better, without owing you anything.
About an employer. After you apply to a job or talk with an employer, you can share feedback on how it went. Only the You Know Her team reads it, and companies never see who said what. We use it to keep employers to their commitments. Please keep it honest and about your own experience. If we ever want to use employer feedback differently, we’ll update these terms and our privacy page first.
AI features
We use Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, in two places. Anthropic does not use this to train its models.
- Help answers. When the help panel has no written answer to your question, it asks Claude, which answers only from our written help. AI answers can be wrong. For anything important, check with us at hello@youknowher.com.
- Resume import. If you upload a resume at the start of setup, and the feature is turned on, Claude reads it to pre-fill your profile. Nothing is saved until you review it, and what you save is yours to correct.
No AI screens, scores or ranks members.
What we do, and what we don’t
- We’re a place to meet, not an employer or agency. You Know Her isn’t an employer, recruiter, staffing firm or employment agency, and we don’t act for members or employers. Employers decide whom to interview and hire. Members decide which jobs to pursue.
- No guarantees. We work hard to connect great women with great employers, but we can’t promise interviews, offers, hires, or that every employer will keep its commitments.
- What we check, and what we don’t. We approve every employer by hand, and champions confirm their note with a code sent to their email. Beyond that, we don’t verify every statement in a profile, note or job post. Use your own judgment, and tell us if something looks wrong.
- Watch for scams. We will never ask you for a password, payment or bank details. Jobs here never charge candidates.
Privacy
Our privacy page explains what we collect, who can see it and the choices you have. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@youknowher.com.
Services we rely on
Other companies run parts of You Know Her for us: Supabase stores our data and handles sign-in, Vercel hosts the site, Resend sends our emails, and Anthropic powers the AI features above. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, their terms apply to those accounts. Links on profiles, such as a LinkedIn page or a work sample, lead to sites we don’t run, and we aren’t responsible for them.
Ending your use
You can stop using You Know Her at any time. You can delete your account yourself, right away, from Ways to sign in, or ask us to delete it by emailing privacy@youknowher.com.
We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if these terms are broken, to protect members or others, or if the law requires it. When we do, we’ll usually tell you why, unless that would be unsafe or unlawful. If we ever decide to close You Know Her, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice where we can, so you can save what you need.
The parts of these terms that are meant to last, such as ownership, limits on liability, indemnity and disputes, still apply after an account closes.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep You Know Her useful, safe and running, but it’s provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise the site will always be available or free of errors. We aren’t responsible for what members, champions or employers say or do, on the site or off it.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, You Know Her and the people who work on it aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including lost wages, lost job opportunities, lost profits or lost data, even if we were told they were possible.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims about You Know Her is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury we cause. Some places don’t allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
If someone makes a claim because of your use
Employers agree to defend and cover You Know Her against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs that come from their job posts, their hiring decisions, how they handle candidates’ information, or their breaking these terms or the law.
Members and champions agree to cover our reasonable costs, to the extent the law allows, if someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or your breaking these terms.
We’ll tell you promptly about any such claim and work with you on it.
If we disagree
Talk to us first. Most problems are faster to fix by talking. Email hello@youknowher.com with what happened and what you’d like us to do. We’ll both try in good faith to sort it out within 30 days before either of us goes to court.
Oregon law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that we can’t resolve will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon, and we both agree to those courts. Either of us may also bring an eligible claim in small claims court. There is no mandatory arbitration. If you live somewhere whose laws give you rights these terms can’t take away, you keep those rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as You Know Her grows. If we make a meaningful change, we’ll email members and employers and post a notice on the site at least 14 days before it takes effect, and we’ll update the date at the top. Changes needed for legal or safety reasons may take effect sooner. Changes to employer pricing always get at least 30 days’ notice, as described above. If you keep using You Know Her after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can close your account.
The fine print
- These terms and our privacy page are the whole agreement between us about You Know Her.
- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your account or these terms. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale, and these terms will still protect you.
- We aren’t responsible for delays or outages caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- We may send you notices by email to the address on your account, or on the site.
